This fact attests to Japan’s status as a cradle of many creative and influential architects in the contemporary world. In this course, we will examine the origins of contemporary architectural thinking in Japan, exploring the internal and external factors that have shaped it, and how it evolves along a path connected to the past. This thinking navigates its relationship with the traditions and culture of architecture inside and outside Japan, geographical and climatic conditions like earthquakes, and social and economic factors, while testing new solutions in the face of emerging challenges.
