In this course, our goal is to engage in “Object Design” through an approach that involves observing, understanding, and analyzing forms and volumes in the first step, and focusing on Iranian visual and design traditions in the second step.

What we generally think about form, rhythm, volume, and space is directly or indirectly dependent on the fundamental and established definitions and concepts of the modern era (especially the Bauhaus school) and its subsequent tendencies. These concepts are often taught with personal interpretations or in combination with other trends.

Therefore, in the first stage, we will review these concepts. Next, we will attempt to discover and recognize the principles, patterns, and structures in Iranian design, and after categorizing them, we will proceed to align and compare them. In the following step, we will consider these as the main source and starting point for design, with the aim of creating objects, ultimately designing contemporary objects inspired and influenced by these patterns and structures.

The course product includes a final product (object) along with a booklet containing reports, research, preliminary designs, and analyses related to the final product. This booklet will serve as the product’s specification, and its design will be part of the course’s final product.
