Photographic narratives within contemporary art are inherently involved in the processes of encoding and decoding, which sometimes arise from contextual curiosities and semiotic and interdisciplinary research.

Photographs, like other visual forms such as paintings and designs, convey narratives through the use of techniques. However, in photography, the strategies used for narration are often obscured by the immediacy of images and their production methods. We must not only view photographs as an active play of visual language but also recognize that meanings in photographs emerge through social and psychological interactions between the creator and the audience. These assumptions often come into play during the processing and reading of images.

In the Photographic Narrative Workshop, we aim to empower participants by utilizing concepts and practical exercises to explore new ideas and perspectives, as well as to convey their narratives through photography.

The first and last sessions will be held in person at the Contemporary Architects’ Hub, while the remaining sessions will be conducted online via Google Meet.
