Contemporary Architects Association of Iran
The Contemporary Architects Association was founded nine years ago with the aim of creating new spaces for the production and exchange of ideas. Through offering thought-driven educational courses, admitting talented students, and collaborating with leading international architects and scientific institutions, it has become an influential institution in the field of architectural education and culture. Its impact on contemporary Iranian architecture has been solidified by educating innovative and thoughtful students.
We decided to expand the influence of the association by transitioning from a for-profit to a non-profit organization. This change has been officially reflected in the association’s bylaws. Thus, another significant step has been taken towards the fundamental beliefs of the association, tying the achievement of its lofty goals for the advancement of contemporary Iranian architecture and the development of diverse dialogues to those who are passionate about Iranian architecture.
The association will not engage in any commercial activities, and no rewards or profits will be received by its trustees. All material and spiritual benefits derived from the association’s activities will be used for expanding its activities and providing scholarships for talents.
The CAAI is a form of a discourse time and a transformative force in the history of Iranian architecture; a time and place for generating pertinent questions, creative ideas, and forward-moving projects. It is a venue for the continuous advancement of architectural education in the country and a reputable place in the global architectural landscape. As it strives to create a new language for “drawing” and “speaking,” it educates architects who, unafraid of making mistakes, venture into the unknown to discover new possibilities and innovate within these conditions and this history. These architects will take steps toward establishing contemporary languages of Iranian architecture.
The mission of the Contemporary Architects Association is to create an environment where its teachers and students, equipped with a deep understanding of architectural knowledge, history, and theories, engage in meticulous observation of the current state with an analytical and research-driven approach. Additionally, the association serves as a platform for critical examination and repeated reinterpretation of the history of Iranian architecture. The mission of the association is to collaborate with curious students to explore new possibilities and capabilities in these fields. Throughout these experiences, every idea or project, even those that do not lead to definitive solutions, is considered valuable.
